A Super Fast Journey

I am not really sure where to start in terms of sharing with you. I am going to do a juice fast during Lent. Maybe I should say, "attempt," BUT I have been mentally preparing and that's 95% of it - having proven to myself with other things that much of what we "think" we need (sugar, etc.) is more mental addiction, than physical addiction. I know it will not be easy initially, but if I can get to Day 10, I'll be good as my body will have fully adjusted to its new diet and it will know it is getting all the nutrients it needs.

I am preparing now to begin the final push of pre-fasting. In the last two weeks I have replaced one meal every day with a large veggie drink and I'm cleaning out fridge, freezer and pantry of other foods. I am not completely new to juicing. I started 4 years ago and I have done two, short-term fasts every year (traditionally around January and July). However, this will be my first TRUE fast. I say that because any professional faster knows not much happens with a short-term fast. For the first 48-hours ones body is able to survive on stored energy in fat cells.  Days 3 & 4 are then partially fueled by reserves in the liver. SO, it's not until Day 5 that one really begins a full detoxification of all the crap that's been put into its system over years and years and years.

You are invited to follow me on this journey. I will share with you resources, answer your questions, and also keep you informed of the struggles, progresses, etc. - including weigh-ins, blood count #s, and anything else I think might be pertinent for you to know in this process.

To this point, I feel confident in my books/reading on this subject. I have been mentally preparing and will continue to prepare emotionally and spiritually for this. I am also working hand-in-hand with my internist in having regular tests run (more later on this).

When I have mentioned this the #1 question I have received is: "Why are you wanting to do this?"  Or "Why are you doing this?"  So, I will address that question on my next post.
